Position Chef:
A Brussels based ( Elsene) restaurant serving Franco-Belgian seasonal classical food as well as freshly made coffees, artisan beers and quality wines .
Interior decoration is new/trendy and reflects the atmosphere of a contemporary bistro associated to a “local ” restaurant.
Kitchen is large , well equipped and fully open to the restaurant area .
Open Tuesday to Sunday, split service during the week and ongoing service for brunch on WE and holidays.
You will work closely with the manager ( owner) and be responsible for :
Creating and establishing the menus.
Organizing the kitchen tasks and take responsibility for it’s good functioning ( team & hygiene).
Supervise the work flow and deliver quality.
Produce constant quality, using seasonal, fresh and biological ( whenever possible) produce and ingredients.
Manage the supplies and kitchen team’s performance.
Recruit , train and direct the kitchen team .
Chef will be responsibility for a team consisting of: 1 sous-chef, 2 kitchen clerks, 1 dish washing person plus extra students over the WE.
Profile ( skills & experience) required:
A degree from a a recognized Hotel school or Horeca training equivalent.
3 to 6 years of practical experience as chef or sous-chef in a reputed restaurant in Belgium or abroad, with team management ( communications) experience.
You have a sound basic knowledge and interest for wines and general gastronomy.
You are reliable , adaptable and fast .
You are meticulous, clean and give attention to detail.
You speak either English and/or French and/or Dutch.
Offer:
Full time contract ( after trial period) , 5 days per week.
Remuneration : to be discussed at interview.
